Dental Bridges

Missing teeth can cause more problems than just poor appearance. Patients with gaps can often find speaking and chewing difficult.

Dental bridges fill in gaps with replacement teeth, restoring your smile and allowing you to eat and speak comfortably.

Dr. Scott Azari in Port St. Lucie, FL, can provide you with a beautiful custom bridge.

What Are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges are an effective solution to replace one tooth or multiple consecutive teeth. A traditional fixed bridge consists of two dental crowns supporting one or more replacement teeth between them. You can also choose to receive an implant-supported bridge that will not require crowning the teeth on either side of the gap.

Steps of a Traditional Bridge Procedure

It costs nothing to have our dentist look over your teeth to see if you're a dental bridge candidate.
It costs nothing to have our dentist look over your teeth to see if you're a dental bridge candidate.

Consultation

Dr. Scott Azari will determine if you’re a good candidate for a dental bridge. He’ll answer all your questions and develop a plan for placing the dental bridge. He’ll also determine the size of your bridge. Dental bridges can generally replace one tooth or up to four missing teeth in a row.

First Appointment

During this first appointment, our dentist will take state-of-the-art digital impressions. This process is much more comfortable for patients than traditional impressions and makes the process of developing your bridge quicker and more accurate.

Waiting Period

After your impressions, we will send your information to a lab where the dental bridge will be created. We offer zirconia dental bridges made of premium ceramic material that blends in with the enamel of your natural teeth.

Second Appointment

In a few weeks, you’ll have your second appointment. Our dentist will shape the abutment teeth on either side of the gap to prepare them for crowns. The crowned abutment teeth will provide support for the bridge. Your permanent bridge will be cemented to the prepared teeth, giving you a full, functional smile.

Implant-Supported Bridges

With traditional bridges, the replacement teeth (pontics) are secured in place using the adjacent natural teeth. With implant-supported bridges, the pontics are supported by dental implants. A dental implant is a titanium post that acts as an artificial tooth root. Bridges require at least two implants to support the pontics.

Although this option requires oral surgery and several months of recovery as the implant fuses to the bone tissue, it provides two distinct benefits. First, it eliminates the need to crown healthy teeth. Second, implants are the only restorative treatment that can prevent bone atrophy after tooth loss. Our dentist can help you determine which option is best for your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of material does Lucie Dental use to create bridges?

Lucie Dental uses zirconia to make dental bridges. After taking a digital impression of your teeth, we will craft a precise custom bridge from this incredibly durable and lifelike material.

How long do dental bridges last?

Zirconia bridges last from five to 20 years with proper care. To keep your bridge looking its best, brush twice daily, floss at least once a day, and visit our dentist for regular cleanings.

Is a bridge secure?

Yes, whether the bridge is supported by crowned teeth or by dental implants, you can expect that the restoration will stay firmly in place when you are chewing or speaking.

Paying for Your Dental Bridge

Our office accepts all insurances and your plan may contribute to or cover the cost of your zirconia dental bridge if it's deemed medically necessary.

If you have any out-of-pocket costs, we offer financing through CareCredit®, a company that allows qualifying patients to pay for their dental care in affordable monthly installments.
